Top Best 50-inch TV with Depth Review 2021

These kinds of MI TV 4X first impressions are available everywhere but this is a proper review.

today I'll review a proper review of MI TV 5X which you haven't seen anywhere till now. pros and cons so that you can have a value for money deal. Then you need to decide what you want to buy. I have bought this product to make its review and this is possible with the money I get from you. for unknown reasons. I got it installed by Xiaomi's Installation Team. I recommend you do the same to avoid voids in the warranty. Installation is simple. Attach the metal foot-stands or get wall mounts by paying ₹500 extra.

TV

TV has been installed. Let's do the unwrapping. It has a metal frame of brushed aluminum color which looks premium. Its bezels are thin. On the bottom is Xiaomi's branding with far-field microphones (discuss later). Its back is of plastic. They have tried to give it a carbon fiber look but unfortunately, this is just plastic. On the back are connectivity options which include- 3 HDMI 2.1 ports (amazing) & its HDMI 2 port is eARC. There are 2 USB ports & 1 headphone jack on the same side.

It has 1 optical audio port, AV composite, Antenna, and LAN port. It supports Bluetooth 5.0 & dual-band WiFi. Along with stands, there is some documentation & a remote control without batteries. The remote control is sleek & has a minimalist design. There are Netflix & Amazon Prime hotkeys with Patchwall and Google Assistant buttons. Let's turn it on. It takes 30-40 sec to boot up which is normal in all android TVs. This is the look of the home screen. All famous OTT apps are pre-downloaded.

The suggested content appears on the home screen. The almost same content is there in patch wall suggestions. There is nothing extraordinary in Patchwall. Suggested content is the same in patch wall & Android OS. It is up to you where you want to watch content from. It comes with Android OS 10 out of the box. It has 16GB max storage.

Its usable storage is 12GB (good). It comes with Android 10 out of the box with built-in Chromecast & the support of Patchwall 4 interface. This overall OS experience is not smooth. There are bugs and it lags sometimes. Initially, it runs smooth, but after 15-20 minutes, it starts to lag. You will face wifi disconnection issues along with other glitches are bugs. It has Chromecast and Miracast support which means you can cast your phone in 2 ways.

Miracast is not good. When I tried to cast my phone via Miracast, this was the result. I couldn't cast my OnePlus phone. In fact, my wifi got disconnected due to which I had to reboot this TV again and again. However, a Xiaomi phone got cast within seconds via Miracast. It has 4K Ultra HD 3840×2160 Resolution & a 60Hz refresh rate with a reality flow 60Hz MEMC. Reality Flow is a MEMC technology that is software-based in this TV. There is no significant reduction in motion blur

which I'll show you later. It comes with an 8 bit FRC VA DLED panel that supports HDR10, HDR10+, HLG & Dolby Vision. Now let's answer the elephant in the room. On 100% backlight & 100% brightness, its brightness was 350 Lux i.e 350 nits. On usable condition i.e on 100% backlight and 50% brightness, its peak HDR brightness is 275 Lux. After reducing its backlight to 70% & brightness to 50%, its peak HDR brightness becomes 175 nits. The peak HDR brightness is recorded on 100% backlight and 50% brightness and in this scenario- its peak HDR brightness is 275 lux i.e 275 nits.

When we increase its brightness (brightness & picture contrast etc) to 100; you can't see this TV. In that scenario, its peak HDR brightness is 350 nits. But in that scenario, nobody can watch this TV and this is its result. This is the quality of SD channels when their brightness is 50%. This is the quality of SD channels at 100% brightness. It has Vivid Picture Engine 2 technology with Adaptive brightness. The Wide Color Gamut NTSC is 85% and the DCI P3 ratio

is 94%. These figures sound good and this is the picture quality you get. Good NTSC and DCI P3 ratio does not enhance the color quality rather it means there are more colors. This optimization is done by Xiaomi. Now let's see what kind of color optimization is done by Xiaomi. In my opinion, red and green colors are over-saturated. See this clip carefully.

GOOD

  • 4K HDR
  • 20W SPEAKER DOLBY+DTS-HD
  • PATCH WALL MASSIVE CATELOG OF 4K CONTENT
  • GOOGLE ASSISTANT

BAD

  • STORAGE ONLY 8 GB

The red color will appear more prominent. Right now the picture quality is Standard and the rest of the settings are on default but despite that, the red color appears oversaturated. My camera couldn't capture the green color saturation but according to me, the green color is oversaturated. Now let's test its upscaling capabilities. First I'll play SD channels from HD set-top box. SD channels upscaling is good but not that good. No 4k TV can show amazing picture quality of SD channels especially in

budget range. The clarity and upscaling of HD channels are far better but there is no significant reduction in motion blur. The upscaling and picture quality of SD and HD channels is not that amazing rather, it is just above average. There is nothing extraordinary even in HD channels and the reason is its poor picture quality due to less brightness.

Now we will test upscaling capabilities of 720p, 1080p, & 4k videos played via USB. This is a 720p video & its upscaling is not that amazing. The upscaling of the 1080p video is amazing which is very good. The upscaling of this 4K video played via USB is really good. Let's test its OTT app's performance and first, we will play a video on Netflix. The Dolby Vision logo will appear in

Dolby Vision compatible videos as Mi TV 4X supports Dolby Vision. It supports HDR10 and HDR10+ and let's test it with Amazon Prime. This panel plays HDR10 really well. All the Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HDR10+ content on Amazon Prime and Netflix appear to be flat. According to my, there is no difference as its low brightness is unable to show the content as it is made to be shown. Even after closing Dolby Vision or HDR10, the picture quality will be the same as in other contents.

Decide whether it is a pro or a con. This was the picture quality which you must have already seen. Now let's do the real testing. Let's begin our testing with the Dimming Test. Concentrate on this rotating circle and you will see the motion blur easily. I have kept motion flow on smooth i.e on maximum setting but despite that, blooming or Halo is still there. Even in the grey uniformity test where we kept the grey screen on 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% & 100%, its performance is nothing extraordinary. Greys are not that uniform, especially in the lower percentage.

Let's do a stress test that will show blooming and Halo perfectly. In this stress test, blacks are good but there is Halo or Blooming. Let's do a perfect Halo test to confirm it. Concentrate on the rotating blades of the windmill and they will appear as 2 or 3. You can decrease the video's speed to check it. Blooming or Halo is clearly visible. All this testing was to check the Blooming or Halo effect and I'll say- there is Halo or Blooming in this TV. Its blacks are good as it is a VA panel.

But I wanted to concentrate more on Colors and Halo. The Halo is clearly visible despite its setting on MEMC Motion flow smooth i.e on maximum setting. You will see 2 or 3 images in fast action scenes for sure. The choice is yours. Let's test the Viewing Angles. See the colors carefully as this is a front angle. There is up to 25% color loss on extreme sides.

This is because it is a VA panel. Now let's test its audio. The audio test should be conducted on a maximum of 70-75% volume. This audio clip is played on 75% volume. Listen carefully. We will test the same audio with a Soundbar and now let's see the difference. Let's test the Dolby Atmos capabilities of Mi TV 5X with this Dolby Atmos Soundbar. The Dolby Atmos logo will appear

on Netflix after connecting it with this Soundbar. Its audio quality is average. This TV has 30W audio whereas its higher models have 40W audio. I have not tested them yet. I can say the 30W speakers of this cabinet as average. This is not a bad thing. Every TV gives average audio quality until it is Sony. Not every TV has the best speakers. One must buy a TV for its best picture quality and not its best audio quality. It comes with far-field microphones which can be turned on/off from here.

They will follow answer your questions & follow your commands. This is a good feature but is this why you choose this TV? Think before you decide. Before my conclusion, let me tell you how its predecessor i.e Mi TV 4X became the best seller. It is because Xiaomi's mobile phones are good and sell the most. Xiaomi is a big company that makes mobile phones. If you have a good Mi mobile phone, then you automatically get convinced to buy Mi TV as well. What does the major

section of Indian audience watch? The answer is TV soap operas. They like vivid dress colors and bright colors in the jewelry. That is why high peak HDR brightness in this TV is not important. Visibility of better red & green color is more important. The SD channels must show that effect too. That is why this is a best seller. Before pros and cons let me tell

you about its picture quality. Forget about its DCI P3 ratio and its NTSC percentage. Just remember that its peak HDR brightness in my meter was 275 Lux. Let me tell you the difference between Lux and Nits. Nits are the 'light coming out of the light source' and Lux is the 'capturing of the amount of light that is being emitted from that light source'.

Thus, 275 Lux means 275 Nits of light from this panel. Remember this. Second, the red color is oversaturated which means guaranteed vibrant picture quality. If you like vibrant colors, then go for it. Its green color is also slightly over-saturated but that much is acceptable. This was everything about its picture quality in a nutshell.

Now let's talk about its pros. The design of this TV is absolutely brilliant. These metal bezels are thin and look very good premium. Its Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HDR10+ content appear the same. It is up to you to decide whether it is a pro or a con. I have included it in pro as even if you don't have Dolby Vision, the content will appear the same. good during the night. The sensors work well. There is a delay of approx 3 seconds but that is completely acceptable.

Now let's discuss the cons. Its interface lags but it can be treated with a software update. I don't know when this will happen or whether this will happen or not. A lag appears after every 7-9 min. This is because Patchwall makes the entire OS a bit heavy. The need for Patchwall is subjective. But according to my, there is no need for Patchwall. Suggestions shown by Patchwall are

the same suggestions are shown by Android. It is only a matter of your choice. Number 2- MEMC is overhyped. It's not so good MEMC and motion Blur is more problematic for gamers. I can't tell how beneficial its Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) is.

I couldn't test it for gaming as I don't have a gaming console. But I can say its MEMC doesn't work as much as it is advertised. Third- its colors are not natural. Its brightness is low according to me. I think it is more suitable for SD and HD channels.

Many people abused me when I tested Mi TV in a Redmi store and told me that its brightness was 280 Nits. I guessed it based on what I saw. Today when I tested it, its brightness was 275 Lux. I can safely assume that this TV and Redmi TV are almost the same with the same panel. Their design is a bit changed and only 1 or 2 features are extra. Otherwise, there is no major change in both these TVs. There is a thing- "paradox of choices" which means you are stuck between either of the two choices or

between a yes or a no situation. Let's discuss whether you should buy it or not. This is a perfect TV for daily operas on  SD or HD channels instead of gaming channels. Your 2nd choice is that you can also buy Redmi TV. According to my Redmi TV and Mi TV 5X are almost the same TVs. I am not trying to confuse you, rather I am providing you more options. Third- you can buy better TV at a

lower price than this TV. The fourth choice- buy a TV which is slightly costlier but you could watch all sorts of content on it. I am giving you these choices so that you can decide better. The decision is all yours. You need to decide what type of content you watch more. You have to decide whether you love Mi TV 5X or whether you want a better picture quality. I think Hisense Tornado, Motorola ZX Pro, Nokia TV (Budget section) are better options. For similar TVs, Redmi TV is good.

The far better options than this TV are LG UP 7500, 7720, and Samsung AUE60 or AUE70. I think all these TVs are better than this TV except for the far-field microphone, thin bezels & the Mi TV 5X branding. Xiaomi provides a 1-year comprehensive warranty and The choice is completely yours. If you want to buy another TV or if you like this TV, then my recommended TV list as well as
